Fuel Cost
Estimating Trip Fuel Costs
Planning a road trip? Knowing your fuel cost in advance helps in budgeting. This calculator considers your vehicle's efficiency (Mileage), the distance of the trip, and current fuel prices.
The Formula
The calculation happens in two steps:
Fuel Needed (Liters) = Distance / Mileage (km/L)Total Cost = Fuel Needed × Price per Liter
Improving Fuel Efficiency
To save money on long trips:
- Check Tire Pressure: Under-inflated tires increase resistance and burn more fuel.
- Steady Speed: Constant acceleration and braking wastes fuel. Use cruise control on highways.
- Reduce Weight: Remove unnecessary heavy items from the trunk.
- AC Usage: At low speeds, open windows. At high speeds, use AC (drag from open windows is worse).
